Here in Hawaii, smudging with ule'ulu has been a practical tradition since ulu arrived to the islands in the 12th century. Ule'ulu is long burning, and the smoke is said to clear the air to make way for new energy. It is especially good at breaking up stagnance and introducing grounding energy.
